Telling Your Story
When a child has been born through embryo donation, both donor and recipient parents will need to decide how and when to tell their children.
Telling a child early allows them to incorporate the child's embryo donation story as they develop their identity. It also allows recipient parents to gain confidence as they can tell the child their story gradually, in an age appropriate way. In this way, being embryo donor conceived can be normal for the child as they grow, rather than a sudden revelation.
For donor parents, telling their children that they have a full genetic sibling/s in another family is also important. Click on the links below for more information and ideas relevant to your circumstances.
